Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be an experienced collector to join?

Absolutely not. Our groups welcome seasoned collectors, interior designers sourcing for clients, serious enthusiasts, and passionate first-timers alike. Jeff calibrates every day's emphasis to the group's collective interests. What matters most is genuine curiosity and a love of French culture and design.

What does the consultation cover?

In 45 minutes, we typically discuss your collecting interests and goals, which of our 2026 journeys might suit you best, the practical realities of buying antiques in France — authentication, fair pricing, what to look for — and shipping and customs guidance. It is a genuine conversation, not a pitch.

How small are the groups?

We are firm about 6–8 travelers per journey. This is non-negotiable — it is what makes the dealer relationships possible and the experience genuinely intimate. Once a journey is full, it closes. We recommend consulting early, particularly for our April and June departures.

What's included in the price?

Paris journeys include two dinners, one lunch, all market access fees, ground transportation during scheduled activities, and expert guidance throughout. Limo airport transfers. Provence journeys include the private Gordes villa, all meals prepared by a dedicated chef, train station transfers, and all group activities. Airfare and train fare from Paris are the traveler's responsibility.

Why aren't Paris accommodations included in the journey price?

We've made a deliberate choice to let you arrange your Paris accommodations independently — and our clients consistently tell us they appreciate the flexibility. Some prefer intimate Left Bank boutique hotels within walking distance of the markets. Others want elegant Right Bank properties near the design district. A few opt for apartment rentals that allow them to live like locals. Your budget, your style, your priorities — we respect that the "perfect" Paris accommodation is deeply personal.

That said, you're not doing this alone. Our Petite Blue Book includes curated recommendations across different styles and price points — from charming three-star gems to palace hotels — all selected for their proximity to our antiquing itinerary and their authentic Parisian character. We're also happy to provide booking guidance and answer questions about neighborhoods during your consultation or any time before your departure.

For our Provence journeys, accommodations are included because we own the private villa in Gordes where we stay — it's part of the immersive experience and allows us to control every detail of your week in the Luberon.

I'm an interior designer — is there a specific benefit?

Significantly so. Our Designers Only journey is built around your professional reality — trade pricing from dealers, the ability to source for multiple client projects simultaneously, access to Maison & Objet during Paris Design Week, and full shipping coordination for multiple acquisitions. Many of our designer clients return annually.

What happens to pieces I purchase during the journey?

We provide full coordination with our trusted international shipper, Edet International — from secure packing and export documentation to customs clearance and delivery to your home or studio. All purchase funds are paid directly by you to the seller or the shipper's trust account. We remove every logistical barrier so acquiring a 19th-century trumeau in the Luberon feels no more complicated than buying locally.

What is the deposit and cancellation policy?

Reservations are confirmed with a 25% non-refundable deposit. Final payment is due 60 days before departure. Cancellations made more than 60 days prior receive a refund of all payments beyond the deposit. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance at time of booking — Travelex and American Express both offer excellent international policies.

Our 2026 departures are already filling. Each journey admits just six to eight travelers — and our April dates in particular tend to close months in advance. A fifteen-minute conversation now may be the difference between this year and next.
