La Chinoiserie Bordure Paper Placemat — Fawn

An engraved garden border running the full frame of the setting — trailing blossom, leaf and bud in fine line — with the centre left open for the plate to sit.

Bordure takes the ornament from the edges of the La Chinoiserie garden and gives it the whole margin. Where the garden-scene mats put the picture under the plate, this one clears the middle and lets the plate be the picture — which makes it the mat to reach for when the china is busy.

A tear-away pad: a fresh sheet lifts off for each setting, and the used one goes in the bin. 12″ × 18″, 25 sheets to the pad.

Parchment on umber — the darkest mat in the line, and the one that makes cream china and old silver look like they cost something.
