La Chinoiserie Noël Fretwork Paper Party Plate (Set of 8)

The fretwork lattice carried across the face of the plate: interlocking squares and diamonds running edge to edge, no border and no reserve at the centre.

Fretwork is the geometric counterpart to the La Chinoiserie garden. Where the garden plates set a scene, this one sets a structure; stack the two and the lattice reads as the architecture the garden was built on. Here a deep red lattice on fir green, the two colours arriving by way of lacquer and leaf rather than by way of Christmas, which is why the plate reads as Noël without ever announcing it.

Sets of eight. 9″ dinner, 7″ salad or dessert, and a coordinating bowl.
