The Chinese fretwork lattice printed edge to edge — interlocking squares and diamonds in an unbroken trellis, no border, no margin, the pattern running clean off all four sides. Worked in the classic navy-on-ivory blue-and-white. Fretwork is the geometry behind the garden: the lattice that framed the pavilion and the window, drawn here at the scale of the table.
