La Comtesse Paper Party Plate (Pack of 8)
Description
A young comtesse in an off-the-shoulder gown, a spray of flowers at her bodice, surfaces from a decayed 19th-century daguerreotype — the silver plate foxed and spectral, her gaze holding steady through a century of tarnish. She reads as a portrait rescued from a haunted drawing room rather than costume-shop kitsch. Available in 9″ dinner and 7″ salad or dessert sizes.
The Design
The image is lifted from the earliest age of photography, when a sitter held still for minutes and the finished daguerreotype was a one-of-a-kind silver mirror. Time has done the rest — bloomed the emulsion, scratched the plate, and left the Comtesse half-dissolved into shadow, a beautiful revenant set on an aged ivory ground with a fine dark rim.
The Object
Printed in full color on durable, food-safe paper, the plate comes in a 9″ dinner size and a 7″ salad or dessert size, sold in packs of eight. Gather her with Le Docteur, Le Colonel, and La Douairière for a full séance of a table, or set her against the solid Les Classiques Black for a quieter haunting.
