Le Colonel Paper Party Plate (Pack of 8)
Description
An old officer in a dark, ornamented coat sits nearly consumed by his own portrait — the most corroded of the daguerreotypes, his stern face surfacing through clouds of tarnish and bloom. Austere and unyielding, he reads as a patriarch recovered from a haunted hall rather than costume-shop kitsch. Available in 9″ dinner and 7″ salad or dessert sizes.
The Design
The image dates to the earliest age of photography, when a sitter held still for minutes and the finished daguerreotype was a one-of-a-kind silver mirror. Here the silver has turned on itself: the plate blooms black and pewter, the Colonel's braided coat and set jaw dissolving into shadow on an aged ivory ground with a fine dark rim — the household's severest ghost.
The Object
Printed in full color on durable, food-safe paper, in a 9″ dinner size and a 7″ salad or dessert size, sold in packs of eight. Muster him with La Comtesse, Le Docteur, and La Douairière for a full séance of a table, or set him against the solid Les Classiques plates for a quieter haunting.
