Noël — Le Beau Narcisse (Set of 8)
Description
Les Patineurs comes from the hand-coloured plates of Jean Garcin's Le Vrai Patineur, Paris 1813 — a manual on how to skate with grace, illustrated throughout by a dandy in a frogged red jacket and green breeches, blades strapped over his boots, demonstrating each figure in turn. Le Beau Narcisse has his arms curved above his head and his chin tipped down, entirely pleased with himself; Garcin's hand-lettered caption sits below him on the ice.
The engraving is printed as it sits on the page — foxing, laid lines, torn edge of the ice and all.
Available as a 9″ dinner plate, 7″ salad/dessert plate, and 7″ bowl. Red and green without a sprig of holly in sight — Noël for a table that would rather not be obvious.
