Snake Appetizer Plate Set (9″)

A set of four antique snake plates in the 9″ size, one of each design: the Scarlet, the Black, the Grey Kingsnake, and the Red-Banded. The larger assortment anchors a Halloween table with four different serpents. Four plates, one of each snake.

The Design

Four different 19th-century snake engravings, one to a plate, each set on an aged ivory ground with a fine dark rim: the scarlet coral snake, the coiled black, the soft grey kingsnake, and the red-banded showpiece. As a group they turn a dinner table into a naturalist's cabinet.

The Object

Four 9″ dinner plates, one of each design, printed full-color on durable, food-safe paper. The set anchors a Halloween table on its own, pairs with the 7″ set for a layered place setting, or mixes with the solid Les Classiques plates for a calmer palette.
