An antique indigo textile printed cream on deep blue: a serpentine vine of carnations and full rosettes winding between narrow borders of lattice and small flower medallions, the ground softly faded and creased like old cloth kept folded away for years.

The pattern belongs to the world of the indienne, the resist-printed cottons that came into France from India and were copied through Provence and Marseille across the 18th and 19th centuries. On paper the blue keeps its depth and the whites their chalky softness, a single fragment of cloth enlarged to fill the plate. Available in 9″ dinner and 7″ salad/dessert plates, plus a matching bowl.
