Le Docteur Paper Party Plate (Pack of 8)
Description
A bespectacled gentleman in a high white cravat and dark coat regards you from a decayed 19th-century daguerreotype, the emulsion blistered across his jaw like a slow contagion. Grave, learned, and faintly clinical, he reads as a portrait recovered from a haunted study rather than costume-shop kitsch. Available in 9″ dinner and 7″ salad or dessert sizes.
The Design
The likeness comes from the earliest age of photography, when a sitter held still for minutes and the finished daguerreotype was a one-of-a-kind silver mirror. Time bloomed the plate and ate at the Docteur's face, leaving spectacles, whiskers, and a stiff cravat floating on an aged ivory ground with a fine dark rim — the physician who, it seems, could not cure himself.
The Object
Printed in full color on durable, food-safe paper, in a 9″ dinner size and a 7″ salad or dessert size, sold in packs of eight. Seat him with La Comtesse, Le Colonel, and La Douairière for a full séance of a table, or against the solid Les Classiques plates for contrast.
