L'oiseau Green Toile Tear Away Paper Placemat

The toile de Jouy pastoral tradition placed the bird in the landscape alongside the shepherdess and the harvester — a fixture of the decorative vocabulary of the great Oberkampf workshops, present in the printed cottons that furnished the best French interiors from the 1760s onward. The L’oiseau Green Toile placemat carries that tradition to the table in a single-color green pastoral design, the bird motif centered in the composition as it would have been in the original engraved plates.
